Residencies & Workshops

Dance residencies go far beyond a single performance or assembly. They give students an extended, hands-on experience where they move, create, and learn together. The bottom line is this: a dance residency isn’t just an art program, it’s a life-skills program. It supports academics, health, and social growth, while giving your children unforgettable moments of joy and accomplishment.

We offer individual and full day workshops along with 1 or 2 week-long dance residencies.

Workshops

Students will amaze themselves as they learn basic moves and create their own choreography by exploring the American art form of breakdancing with Hip Hop Fundamentals. Created in the 1970s by New York’s youth, the dance form is an engaging and exciting way for young people to express themselves, have fun, exercise, build confidence, and work as a team. This workshop is designed to build self-confidence and reinforce the idea that you can do anything you put your mind to doing.

1-Week Residency

Through daily workshops, students wil develop rhythm, coordination, and body awareness while exploring the cultural roots and history of the dance style of Breakin’. Students will also gain an understanding of essential practices like warming up before physical activity, stretching afterward, and appreciating the value of community dance, participation, and diversity. This holistic approach ensures that every student grows not just as a dancer, but as a confident and connected member of their community.

2-Week Residency

This extended residency offers a chance for students to take a deep dive into the history of the dance while being challenged to create moves and choreography of their own. Schools can choose to have the residency end with a culminating performance to showcase what students have learned to the school community and their families.
